Does anyone know what the size of the oil plug is on a 2005 9-3? The socket size and thread size? This seems to be impossible information to find

The problem with dealers is not the cost but the accessibility and hours of the parts departments. I got one from an auto parts store but I'm not sure I trust it, especially considering the one I got is a 14mm head and the on currently on it is 15mm. BTW mine doesn't want to come off and is getting stripped.

It should be a 12mm-1.75 thread. I don't remember the head size, I believe it's either 15mm or 14mm. The head size does not have anything to do with thread size! If you're looking for a replacement drain plug, you can get one with a built-in gasket from the Chevy dealer for the 2.2L Ecotec engine (Autozone and Advance Auto should also have them)...or from the Ford dealer for a 1996 Ford Contour 2.5L V6. All are the same and all will fit.
It looks like #1068 on this page: http://www.cgenterprises.com/drain_plugs_metric.htm Last edited by brianl703; 22-06-09 at 01:51 PM. |

One of my pet peeves .. Poor service... This industry, and the medical profession , do not know the meaning of service.. Poor communications ...Parts stores are notorious for wrong and missing info...and as the Saab numbers are so low, the radar is escaped.. Poor workmanship...obvious Our nation can do better At Harbor Freight, a special socket set is being sold to remove these "victims of poor workmanship".. They are an example of "doing better, with the help of China". I think that things are improving, but too slowly...

You can get it from any old parts store; have them look it up. I got a crush ring this weekend and he pulled out a plug at the same time (though i didn't need).
