Default Need some of your advice please!

I own a 2004 saab 9-3 linnear and for the past few days intermittently while driving all the needles on my cluster will drop to 0 while the vehicle will continue to drive fine. My ICM display on the dash will blank out and have no reading. When this occurs my door locks, power windows, steering wheel controls and all inop. I had a similar issue a year ago where Saab replaced my ignition switch and said they needed to start there. They have said it could potentially be a body control module. Now, being out of warranty I'd hate to have them diagnosis it if I can be confident enough thats what it is. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance
