Im so excited I had to show it off! I finally did the 04-05 bumper swap today. Been waiting for a bit of good weather (which is certainly hard to find here this time of year) to move the parts from my living room to the car. Here is a quick pic of it. Im going to wash it up, put the summer rims on and get a few more shots. Looks soooooo much better than the 02 bumper!

I dont have a garage or anything and i dont really want to tackle the job in my driveway, however my buddy has a garage but if it requires alot of metal cutting and fab work then i would get a shop to do so. Mines a 99 year so its a little harder i think. Ive read the write up on this but wanted a second opinion.

The total cost wasnt too bad. Although, after getting backed into by a truck, it was pretty much free to me. (insurance) The parts are pretty cheap, but the paint is the expensive thing. The fog covers arent in the photo and Im not going to be using fog lights. I havent ever used the fog lights or ever needed to use them here. At about $200 a piece, it would have gone into my personal budget, so I just cut them out of the project. I wasnt sure how it would look, but I really like it without fogs.
Got the bumper here for $375. Shipping was something around $100 (freight) Needed the three lower grill pieces. $75 Paint on hood and bumper (and small dent on hood) $600 Bumper itself was probably $250 tops. The bumper swap itself took about 2 hours. There is no fab work for 02+ cars. Its a direct fit, basically pulling off the old one and putting on the new one. Its my understanding that 9-5s before that need some modifying. I do plan on going to the SOC this year. Its in my backyard and the company I work for owns Copper resort so that means I have to go. Right? Last edited by mt.aero; 26-04-09 at 04:34 PM. |

Looks great. Can't wait to see it with your Rials. I just had Direzza Z1 Star Specs installed on Friday and of course it snowed 6" in Denver last night. I was nervous as there are pretty specific warnings about driving at or below freezing. They were fine though this morning.

I almost put them on saturday, but it has since snowed and the forecast says snow all week.
Any chance you and Ivan would be interested in a gtg before SOC? (hopefully with some more CO guys as well) |

I just picked up my 04 bumper from the auto body shop yesterday. It goes on this evening. I have all the lights and grill pieces. I can't wait. Same 02 to 04 aero conversion.. Now I'll have looks to go w/ the extra power...

aaaaaand back from the dead.
Question about the bumper swap. Just questions at this point. No funds to do it at the moment. Hoping someone can help. I have an '03. The bumper swap would be to an '04/'05. It's direct bolt-on for this? Nothing needs to be changed? It appears the only difference is the lower portion of the bumper. Does this mean that my current headlamp washer assemblies would bolt right in to the newer bumper? Obviously my older fog lights won't fit the newer bumper. Anything else? -Thanks

I just got mine in yesterday. Off to paint, including removing my roof rack and shark fin. Ha. Just realized this is a 2 year old thread! Last edited by Paul in NM; 07-08-11 at 09:06 PM. |
