I would be very interested too. My shift is kinda wobbly and imprecise but it engages fine.

This might have more to do with a worn linkage or excessive engine movement (tired mounts) than the shifter itself having long throws.

I know I have to replace the main and rear engine mounts soon but they arent moving excessively at this stage more for just refinement. How do I check the linkage?

It is a bit of a squeeze to get in there but if you have a long handle screwdriver you can try to jiggle it about to see if any of the ball joints are worn.

Sorry for the stupid question but is this at the gearbox end or in the shifter box? Anyone got a diagram? thanks
