Default Holset Super 40 runs today :-)

I finally finished up the turbo swap and got the holset super 40 working and running and boy is it a monster. It immediately maxed my fuel out from the 3076 at 28psi on 25psi on the holset. It ran about 13.5/1 for the one or two pulls I ran, but its hard to tell because the a/f gage seems to lag behind and I was reaching the rev limit before I could tell what was going on.

I just remapped the fuel map and have all the 60# have in them past 5k and will see what happens here.

Well, I might need new injectors, I remapped the fuel to give me everything it had past 5k and upped my w/m pump pressure and did some pulls this morning at 34f, it hit 30psi and was OH MY GOD fast! The good news is the a/f was in the 12.0 range for a while and then started climbing as I got near my 7200rpm rev limit. It ended up around 12.8/1 at redline.

The bad news is the new spec stg 3+ clutch did not hold, started slipping

I had to pedal it and then it held and then held through 4th gear, but that really sux! I will have to start looking at a tilton or something.

John

You need it on a good dyno so you can see how much torque you are making and if you are out of pump, injector or both. Sounds like it must be a bit too much if that stg3 clutch is slipping. Gearbox wont be happy with that.

I should have a new multi plate setup for the drag car. For now the Vig/Stg3 disk is holding. But that is with a nice torque curve. Hope you can put down that much power. This is what I have been mostly working on.

Yea, with 30psi, I am sure the torque was very high, it only made 26psi at 60f and the clutch held that, but with 34f and 30psi, the clutch did not hold.

I have it mapped for 1.6 bar, I might have to play with the reg kon mats or even the boost mapping some more. I am going out soon to see what its going to do since it has warmed up now.

I would be very interested in a multi-disk clutch pack :-)

Besides the posters and books in the garage surrounding the "BGT", I don't either. That however is another addiction. Nothing like an old set of big bore SU's, throaty exhaust, center spline knock off wheels and chrome bumpers..... and the question...
What is that?
An MG....
Who makes it?
Ummm MG

Default Spec stg 3+ dies on 3rd gear pull :-(

Well, the car was fun while it lasted, about 30 pulls :-) I tried to make another video and did a 3rd gear pull while I rolled into it and pedaled it to try and keep the clutch from slipping, the clutch broke and I can hear pieces ticking around, it sounds like a playing car in a bicycle spoke.

Here is the video as the clutch failed at the end of this pull:

My condolences to the clutch..... It WAS the weakest link. I hope a resolution presents itself. I'm looking forward to the dyno slip being posted on your site!
