New 9-3 Owner.

Hi all, I just picked up my 2nd Saab, an 06 9-3. I had a question on performance upgrades for this generation Saab. I am looking to do exhaust, intake, ecu and a blow-off valve. Where is the place to go for that?

Welcome! Upgrades depend on the engine you have - 9-3 2.0T or 9-3 aero with the 2.8 V6 turbo

I have the 2.0T, does not look like there is much. The standard intake, ecu and exhaust. I was hoping for MBC, IC and things of that nature.

1. BOV you cannot do on the saab.

2. Bigger intercooler probably isn't necessary unless you have huge power. Intercooler can probably come later.

3. Intake will not do anything, except make the current dump valve (BOV-ish type sound) louder. If anything you may loose power, unless it is shielded from the rest of the engine bay.

4. BSR Stage 1, 2, 3 packages may be worth looking in to. Good gains in power and giant gains in torque. Stage 1 starts at $600-700 USD.

5. If you look around the performance forum, you will also find the 'WILDER' mod, which involved a device he makes (and you can make), to trick the ecu so you can run more boost (20ish psi). This requires a manual boost controller also to get some good gains. The 'smart performance' boost controller is discussed as well in a thread. This is by far the cheapest performance mod.

6. Dump pipe - helps the turbo spool up faster, worthy mod. Search function

You might have better luck searching for downpipe rather than dump pipe
