Hummer beginning to run out of road

In spite of its muscular image, Hummer is now on life support.

General Motors has virtually stopped marketing and advertising the brand long synonymous with gas-guzzling excess. Production of the big H2 model has stopped, with no sign of when it might restart.

Thirteen US Hummer dealers have gone out of business in the past four months, and many others have folded their Hummer showrooms into other GM brands, notably Cadillac.

The Hummer brand is supposed to be put to rest sometime in March, 2009.

Not sure how it survived as long as it did to be honest.
Its not like any of them ever do much except burn through fuel at a rate that our environment just loves.

Oh well, each to his own.
I bet some Hummer owners don't like Saabs either.

I'm a Saab driver who loves Hummers.


In all fairness, the H3 is a pretty decent SUV. Lots of factory parts designed for rugged off-road use, and gets about the same gas mileage (or better) than my wife's Jeep.

I've had 3 different ones as either rental cars or loaners. The I5 engine is a dog on the highway, but I hear the 5.3L V8 really moves them.

Don't be surprised if GM announces a buyer for Hummer very soon. Insider info says there are 2 buyers seriously interested. I wish Saab had 2 serious buyers

I bet someday in the future, the hummer name will be resurrected when they figure out how to make an SUV that is both Off-Road Capable AND fuel efficient.

Hummers don't HAVE to be gas guzzlers... Gm just made them that way.
