I have a 2006 93 2.0t. I just replaced the door speakers in it and when I wanted to pull out of my dad's garage the car would not start. There is no 'click' sound when I put the key fob in the ignition but all the lights lit. I disconnected the battery for a few minuted but this didnt help. I got 'refuel fuel now' message on sid, but the tank is still half full. any ideas to what could I check? could it be weak battery?

I had the same issue when I replaced mine. Needed a battery charger to get it going again. Must have drained it somehow.

The electronics seem awfully fussy when the current is low. It could be that whatever module controls the click you hear when you put the key in doesn't have enough juice to boot up, even if lights and stuff work.

The steering lock doesn't work for the first few stop/start cycles after disconnecting the battery anyway, so that's also why you are not hearing it.
As the others have pointed out, these cars do odd things when the battery charge gets low. Blame it on all those computers |
