anyone else besides me really hate when you click "reply" and it takes anywhere from 5-60 seconds to load the area you can type in? the page is fully loaded but it's still "downloading content" before you can begin to type your reply.
i often start my post in notepad then copy/paste when the page fully loads. this is very frustrating. and i'm not a computer noob, it's not my internet/browser .. and it doesn't ALWAYS happen, but more often then not i'm stuck waiting for the damn page to load. [/rant] |

Just tried it with this reply. No time delay at all. Never noticed a delay before either. Site seems fine to me.

It definitely does it for me, on occasion. I also get the 'database error' message at least daily. I'm sure it has to do with the amount of load on the site.

that's what i thought.
just now, the reply function loaded instantly. when i made this thread, it took about 25 seconds. when you wanna say something quick, or you're "excited" to discuss something.. it's very annoying. it's like OK READY............................................. ............ GO! |

it is frustrating 'specially when you wanna say something witty and by the time you have loaded your post some one has beaten you too it or so many post have been added it is no longer relevant but as stated it is an unavoidable problem bought on by Saab Centrals own success

This has become more apparent recently ... maybe the "servers" need something bigger .
But it is probably because of your ADSL speed .. mine is nothing great.. : .........................................![]() 1,15 Mbit/s ![]() Débit descendant (download) Taille du fichier 1,23 Mo Durée 8.561 secondes Débit 1,15 Mbit/s (146,64 ko/s) Débit montant (upload) Taille du fichier 156,92 ko Durée 2.843 secondes Débit 441,63 kbit/s (55,2 ko/s) But I don't have that problem.

My refresh speeds are generally quite acceptable, between clicking "REPLY" or "QUOTE" (or "Edit") and being able to actually do something is somewhere around 3-5 seconds.
Don't forget, in threads where there are lots of pics, refresh speeds will invariably slow down. Esp. when some idiot posts 1024x768 pics of food I get the "database error" message maybe twice a week, usually by the time I close the browser and re-start a new one and come back to SC, things are fine. But there have been times when SC appears to be down for hours on end.

I formally submit the request to add the "Quick Reply" feature that sites like Saablink.net have. It genuinely saves a lot of time by simply not needing to reload the page.

I encounter this problem on a few forums... And the forums that run this software go down pretty often. Saab central isn't alone in this.
I'm thinking somewhere, a rare function isn't closing a mysql connection, and this build up the number of connections, slows down the site, and eventually we get the "database error" message, until it gets reset. |

Safari on a Mac will let you start typing when the page is still loading. It's a time saver when a thread contains a lot of images and you're on a slower connection.

Its a good forum, but this "slowness" happens to me as well.. I just throw it some patience and tolerance...these go a long way..
There was once a singing duet "Patience and Prudence" "You Belong to me".....i think '50s...

No probelms here. I have FiOS at home and dual T1s here at work and use Opera at both.

hey I am in Iraq with a internet service that isn't the greatest by any means and I have no issues with the forum. but a quick reply option would be a good idea so saabken can post more pics of food faster!
