Default Some ideas on wagons?

Okay guys just wondering if some of you can give me some valuable input on some other model wagons out there. Now I don't want this to be about flaming certain ones or name brands. I asking people for info about ones they have ridden in, owned or has some first hand experience with these other brands. I have owned a few myself and here they are:XC90, V70R, Subaru Outback, Subaru GT, MB 300TE and now my 2nd 9-5. There are a few I am looking at and kind of interested in but I wanted some other ideas. They ones I am looking at are the Jaguar Sport wagon, 06' 9-5 and 5 series BMW. I have looked at the Lexus Sportcross but it is way to small for what I need. But I did like the Jag quite a bit! Well send me your input and ideas. And thanks ahead of time.

Mazda has a wagon format of the Mazda6. Well they had it in the previous version of Mazda6, anyway. My son likes his Mazda6 hatch pretty well.

I never thought I would, but I like the Mondeo. Seems like a good honest wagon.

Toxicavenger, if you mean wagons that are available in N. America only, I like the new Passat wagon:

There really aren't any other "wagons" left too choose from if you don't count crossovers. Mazda no longer sells the 6 wagon here. Of course there's the 9-3SC (soon to have XWD "all-road" version).

This is clearly the only viable option .

oh yeah, it'll be the same old "quick, get off the trail, here comes that guy on the Gary Fisher again" but substitute 'j**k for guy', 'road' for 'trail', and 'Bimmer' for 'Gary Fisher' ...

and nobody will want to have a gatorade with you after the ride.

Always go with your heart.

not fast enough

But for north american wagons, it's hard to beat the Magnum SRT8 on the "win" scale.

yeah I like some of the options you guys have posted. I also forgot to mention I had one of the first Allroads and the 2.7tt are a maintence nightmare and so was my S4 . my wife is leaning towards a Jaguar due to the fact that it is AWD and not a full size wagon. we did have a Magnum as a rental when we were in L.A. for a few weeks. I really liked the Hemi but other wise I really didn't like it also the rear passengers had no head room in it . the one I did like was a Mazda 6 wagon I had as a rental the last time I went out west the only issue with it is how cheap it felt. I really still love the look of the Audis but I know I will kick myself in a@@ if I buy another one again. in the end I will still keep my 9-5 as a around town car but my we wanted a little newer wagon and I am trying to keep my options open. the 06' 9-5 still tops my list but she is asking about this Jaguar more and more but there isn't any in our area for her to test drive. so send me some info guys and thanks for your time.

Isn't the Jag X-wagon basically a Mondeo with a Ford V6 which makes it distantly related to the Mazda 6 wagon anyways?

We did have a new Mazda 6 wagon as a rental for a few days (damn SUV drivers and their Saabhunting front bumpers). It had few redeeming features compared to my aging base 9-5 wagon. Even my wife was glad to get out of it. Hard on gas too.

How about a Mercedes C-class wagon with sport package?

I have been looking at 320 Mercedes too I just don't anything about the newer ones. My old school one was way reliable. Some of the features we won't do without is leather, heated seats and not to bad on gas. Or Allroad was horrible on ags and like MacNood said our rental V-6 Mazda was pretty rough on gas too.

The Passat wagon might do. It has all he features you mentioned, 19/28mpg, 2.0T 200hp w. 6-spd tiptronic, all for starting at a few coins under $30K:

Mazdaspeed 3
Not sure if the image is too 'young' for you (don't know how old you are) but if I were in the market for a wagon, I wouldn't need much time to decide.

Plus, the new one is coming out pretty soon. Don't know how pretty it is, but it'll probably be even faster.

There's nothing like 4 cylinder turbo for gas mileage. Not sure if the new one will come with leather or not, but the current generation had some other nice seats.

Yeah the Mazda products aren't even a consideration because with the experience we had with only Mazda dealer in town we won't even deal with those guys again. My wife gets mad everytime she hers there name.

Hey Saabken I do like the VW's but I won't be getting anything brand new so I will keep them in mind. The Mark5's of Vw's are all nice looking cars the only issue with them is everytime my wife hears VW or Audi she thinks I am going to modify it like my old S4. Because we went and test drove a A3 and she asked me right on the spot "what do you want to change on it". With the Saab it is a totally different story with her though. It is fine to do what every I want with it as long as it doesn't stay in the garage long. I think because the Audi was always in my garage. She told me once " I didn't notice the S4 because the hood was closed".

Thanks once again for ideas guys. I know if they get a Jaguar Sportwagon in town she might be picking it up. The only thing slowing her down is the fact that we are buying a house too. But honestly she will get what ever she wants but the ideas you guys have given me will show her all the options.
