Hi All
Seems my recent questions have been too obscure to elicit the answers I was after !!! so here is (hopefully) an easier one ... Are there any suppliers left that can provide the front indicator lens and the rear indicator / brake / reverse light lens cluster specific to a 1978 99 Turbo? Or can Saab still supply? thanks Neil |

Hi Neil,
If you are looking for new parts I think you are limited to aftermarket "clear" corners for the front (unless a NOS one turns up on ebay) Good used fronts and rears do turn up from time to time though, e.g. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAAB-99-TURBO-...1%7C240%3A1318 (no affiliation with seller, just spotted the other day..) Cheers, Mark |

from my experience there are no manufacturers who currretly make these lenses and your best bet is to look for used ones online or if you can find another source such as yard etc.
what i've done with my 99 is slightly modify my tailights to utilize the classic 900 tailights. so far its worked out good. good luck |

Scan-Tech in Sweden make amber/clear front lenses for the 1977-81 99. Scan-Tech part no. 10.7712 (LH), part no. 10.7720 (RH).

I went to the site and they dont sell to the public. The only dealers they show are in Moscow , non in the USA
I am looking for the Amber blinker lenses for a 1975 99 EMS . I also would like a set of the tail light lenses. The ones I have are cracked from the sun here in Florida. Any suggestions where I can find these? Thanks |

If you don't have a dealer in your area, you may be able to order directly from Scan-Tech. I've had to do this because the Melbourne agent won't bring in 99 parts.
As for the amber lenses, they can be made from the standard amber/clear lens by stripping the amber lacquer with caustic soda and respraying them. I haven't got any perfect lenses spare; they're all slightly crazed. |

THanks for the information Sue.
I was under the impression that the amber - clear lights were larger. When I look at the sticky about the 99Ts and 99 EMS ( 2nd page) you can see the photo of the realy nice maroon Saab. It has the wider lenses. Vs my car is at the end of the post and you can see the lenses are only about 1/2 as wide. If I can get the correct size in the 2 color that would be fine. I just want to get a set with no holes- cracks. Barry |

I think the width doubled between 1976 and 1977, regardless of the colouration.

Ok with that info. I am interested in either type All amber or amber and clear.
I was just contacted by Scantech , They dont make or know of any one that makes the lenses. So I am still looking. Used will do. If some one has them and a few photos that would be great. thanks |

ebay, ebay, ebay....but be patient.
I've sourced a few new sets of front and rear assemblies over the years, so they do come up from time to time. Unfortunately, since 2001, I've only seen one set of front euro lense assemblies pop up(Denmark I think it was), so I bought them...pricey with shipping($165)

I might be able to find a spare right-hand front 1972-76 amber/clear lens for you. I'll let you know.

Careful peeps, don't make the thread look like a wanted ad.
Because I'm sure you all know they go in the classifieds: http://www.saabcentral.com/classifieds/index.php

I'm not selling my euro lenses. I was just relating that they can be found on ebay if you wait long enough, and the $165 was the price I had to pay.

Sorry I was just looking for a source. I did scan the for sale area initally.
I guess I am spoiled with BMWs Mobile traditions brand. I can get pretty much any part I want for my 1971 2002. Yet its impossible to find a new lens for a 75 Saab.? I am watching ebay. UK . If some one has a lens or 2 just send me a PM.. thanks. Barry |

I mention no names, just a friendly warning
I agree though, Volvo, BMW etc. all have much better support for the older models
