Default 9-5/9-5 Aero automatic transmission differences?

Does anybody know if the automatic transmission installed in 99-01' Aeros is the same as that installed in other 9-5s? I've only been able to find information about one automatic transmission that was offered, the Aislin-Warner 50-42LE, but it looks like on Nordic's tuning site higher performance tunes can be made to Aero 9-5s, assumedly because of their stronger transmissions. Are the Aeros equipped with a reinforced version of the usual transmission? If anybody knows I'd really appreciate your help--
Thanks
Vinnie

Aero's have bigger turbo's that's why they can make more power.

for the 2002 facelift the automatic transmission was changed to a 5 speed version which is able to handle more torque than the 4 speed automatic from previous years.

the aero automatic is the same as the non-aero automatic for all years.

Right, so in other words, any 4-spd automatic in a 1999-2001 9-5 is swappable within those model years, Aero or not. The same goes for the 2002+ Aero/non-Aero or the 5-speed version.

If it is the case that the same AW 50-42LE transmission was used throughout the 9-5 range, it seems odd that Saab would not have offered an automatic transmission version of the 9-3 Viggen. The limitation I've reached in tuning my 02' 9-3 (same turbo as the Viggen and Aero) has been the automatic transmission (the 50-42LE): while my car has all the hardware to be equipped with Nordic Stage 4 or more, I'm limited to Stage 3 software for transmission durability. Are there any differences between the AW 50-42LE installed in 9-3s and the ones in 9-5s?

I have a ´02 Linear 2.0t with a FA57A01 auto gearbox and it is not working. Can I then use FA57C01 auto gearbox from a ´02 Aero ?

Best wishes, Jón Gunnar
