Default replacement key fob

I got a replacement uncut key fob for my 2002 saab 9-3 (actual pic shown below). Took it to the saab dealer and referred me to a locksmith to get it cut; however, i have no idea how to get it to work with my car. Can it be decoded?

The dealer can reprogram the alarm system to recognize the new key.

Yes, but I still would like to use my old key as well.. any ideas how much this will end up costing? It was $32 just to get the key cut.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean They program all keys together so your old keys will still work too. You need to have all the keys at the time of programming.

Depends on the dealer mine did it for free since they sold the key and cut it but most of the dealers charge about $40 to program them
