car bucks at 2700-2900 RPM in every gear. Accelerates smoothly up to that point, then feels like a fuel cut. Checked for throttle limp mode but the cable is still independant of the whole assembly, and disconnected the battery for 30 minutes to reset the check engine light. The check engine light comes back on immediately. Ive searched the forum but an O2 sensor seems the only other thing mentioned. If i simply unplugg the o2 sensor can I check to see if the vehicle operates correctly or will running the car like that damage something. And is there a way to check the codes without going to the dealer? Thank-you.

Why did you reset the CEL before reading the code? Autozone used to read codes for you, or you can buy a cheap OBD reader for around $50 that will work fine.

And also check for loose connections at the Turbo By-Pass Valve. My BPV suddenly popped loose this past summer on an urban freeway at rush hour, resulting in the car bucking and surging like crazy.
I thought my 2000 was dead, it was a no cost fix. |
