Wink Is this a good deal...

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...&cardist=27%3E

I'm 16 and am looking for a car with a manual and this popped up. I know that they compete with the bmw 3 series so I was intrigued what do you guys think and what can I except maintenance wise.

Thanks,
Lax

welcome, good luck with your car hunting

having said that, search

I personally would be (extremely) wary of purchasing a 2003 9-3 with that many miles without some sort of (good) CPO warranty

It looks good but you need to check the history of the car. I suspect it may have been in an accident. I did a CARFAX report before I bought my car and paid a mechanic to go over the car with a finetooth comb. Drive the car, listen for anything that rattles. I have the same car with a manual transmission and I can assure you - its a BLAST to drive. Good luck.

looks like a good deal for the money. i would be weary about the clutch with 76k miles - see if it has been replaced yet. i have 90k on mine (auto) and it still runs fine with a few minor annoyances. for $7K it should give you good bang for the buck and put a few smiles on your face. But just so you know, I will never buy another saab nor would i recommend a new one.

Read the fine print ....

"Our internet sales price (e-price) assumes qualifying credit score and is after a $2750 down payment, or equivalent trade equity" .... looks like the asking price is really $9740.

I used to be a car dealer back in Atlanta, and I still have access to the Auction website. The dealer value (ie. the price a dealer would pay bidding on this car at a dealer-only auto auction) would be $4275/$6750/$9200 based on that exact mileage of 73662 miles, the vehicles condition (which is why there are 3 numbers), and your Maryland location.

I wouldn't pay more than $6500 for the car, but there is no way they'll go that low. The dealer may think they have the upper hand, but they are having a hard time moving vehicles with manual transmissions. I guess most American's are lazy. I have a coworker who just bought a new Corvette with an automatic transmission. I rag on him everyday. I have the 6spd manual 2008 9-3.

I did a dealer inquiry on all 2003-2005 9-3's with manual transmissions on entire network, and found 14 cars total ...

1. 2004 9-3 Linear, 67K, $7995 - Louisville, KY
2. 2005 9-3 Aero, 56K, $11000 - Fairfield, NJ
3. 2003 9-3 Linear, 58K, $6200 - Fredricksburg, VA
4. 2004 9-3 Aero, 62K, $11000 - Louisville, KY
5. 2004 9-3 Aero Convertible, 47K, $11800 - Albany, NY
6. 2004 9-3 Arc Convertible, 31K, $10900 - Dallas, TX
7. 2004 9-3 Arc Convertible, 52K, $12800 - Orlando, FL
8. 2005 9-3 Arc, 47K, $9800 - Grove City, OH
9. 2003 9-3 Convertible, 56K, $8999 - San Diego, CA
10. 2003 9-3 Linear, 79K, $6200 - Dallas, TX
11. 2003 9-3 Linear, 50K, $9700 - Denver, CO
12. 2005 9-3 Convertible, 42K, $11500 - Manheim, PA
13. 2003 9-3 Convertible, 83K, $8000 - Chicago, IL
14. 2005 9-3 Linear, 63K, $9500 - Marlboro, NY

All of these cars are being sold by dealers TO dealers and the cars are some of the time at the auto auction. I can put you in touch with the dealer of the car you're interested with and you can work out a deal yourself.

Send me a message if you're interested.

Buggers, good catch on the fine print. Thats the most ridiculous scam I've seen in a long time. It's one thing for dealers to advertise low monthly payments based on a substantial downpayment, but its another to advertise a price in bold letters on the net w/ fine print.

"Car for Sale: $1"
(with $9999 down)

BS!
