Reverse selection problem

HI guys, I have a 97 convertible and i,m having the old reverse gear problem, i,ve checked the linkage setting and altered with mild improvement though the amount of play seems way too much, is the play more likely to be in the nylon bushes below gearstick or in the linkage itself? Any help would be much appreciated.
