I bought a key fob from UK, in Canada. Did I make a Mistake?

I set everything up, put a new battery in and only then realized that my other one says on the back cover "FCC ID.... CANADA...." whereas the one from the UK says nothing. So will this key remote not work with my car here in North America? I really wish I had known about this before. So anyways, here are my options:

1) Remote works, but have no idea that it works, only way to find out is to take it to get reprogrammed. Problem is if it doesn't work, I will probably still get charged and wasted money fully and completely

2) Don't even bother trying to get it programmed, sell it back on ebay, and hopefully someone buys it from Europe, and then buy one from North America.

3) (Best option) One of you guys can help me find out for sure if it'll work or not.

it probably works... the FCC id is just to tell everyone the FCC has looked over the device and determined that it does not cause unwanted interference with more sensitive devices and that it has to accept all interference from others...

it's is just an ID that shows it was tested and approved.

Yes to me But joling aside this should work just fine I need to get one really soon too. My Viggen has 1 key and 1 fob

Thanks for the replies guys. I searched a bit on google, and found ( I don't know how accurate this) that in US (and I guess Canada too) they use 315MHz and in Europe it's 433.92 MHz. Is it really something inside the remote that is different which determines the frequency...or can the Tech 2 somehow maybe change the frequency? Ahhhhh.
If I have to sell it I will be at a loss .

Operating frequency is set by components in the fob and in the alarm module. The Tech 2 tool would have no control over this. It is only used to marry the remotes to the alarm module.

In fact, I don't believe that there's anything that can be programmed in the fobs. Most likely, they only broadcast a unique serial number that cannot be changed. The Tech 2 only tells the alarm module to recognize the next fob that it hears.

IIRC 433MHZ is for the older NG900 not the 9-3 How much did you pay for it?

I didn't think that 9.3s (Viggens incl.) had fobs, only keys and that the fobs only work for NG900s?

NOTE on eBay everything is 'Viggen' or 'SPG'!!

I paid around 30 CAD total. Not bad, but if I try and sell it I'll to someone in UK I'll barely make that back.

So are you trying to say it's possible that maybe it'll work? Uhhh...i don't think anyone knows for sure eh ...I guess the only way is with a tech 2...but I'd have to pay for that, it'll be a waste of money. I just wrote back to the seller hoping he would buy it back from me I think I screwed up this time.

Send me pic of yours, I'm willing to take a risk and buy yours if you don't want to risk paying the dealer for nothing. The dealer only charges $30 + tax to program the remote, If it doesn't work so what? I'll take the risk I'll have 3 remotes instead of 2 and if it doesn't work it'll go on ebay.

Hkayssi...I don't have my camera right now, so I am showing you the pic that is on the ebay item page (If you want I can give you the link too), or take pictures after. However, are you sure? I don't want to sell you something that might not work. I contacted the seller and asked him if he was willing to buy it back from me, I told him my situation, and he said yes. So my losses will be shipping to here and back to England...whatever. Actually, I don't even know how to do the transaction now because if I send him the key, how do I know he is trustworthy and will paypal me back. Well that is another issue.

The key is the all-in-one. I plan to use it on my 2000 SE, which has the old banana fob. I looked into this a lot, and you can use the banana fob together with the all-in-one.

Hmmm, I'm willing to take a risk. I was expecting just the remote! How much for the key then? The key shaft can be replaced I think although I'm not sure how. PM me for the details.
