The rear window heater on my 91 lpt isn't working...
I checked the fuse, and it's ok, so could it be the relay? And if so... which one is it? As the manual isn't clear... Thanks as always.... |

Does the Dash Indicator light up?
The Relay is in the Fuse/Relay box.

Yes the light does illuminate...
I know where the relays are located, I'm just not sure which one applies.... |

All was well until last week, it just 'stopped' working! |

Must be the season - mine packed up two days ago as well!
The light illuminates, the window has 12v in MOST places (where it doesn't, there is no continuity but I'd expect that on old glass!) but nothing doing... I fitted my rear window louvre today anyway, so it's not a major issue but would like to fix it still!

Well only half of mine work. in reality its just a big stretched out circuit board. If you lose connection in one spot then it gets all munged up. A wire could have shorted some where possibly and the relay int he fust box could be faulty thats where i would start. I heard the best way to chase electrical gremlins away is to dress up like barbra streissend sing rocket man by elton jon and prey to the saab gods :-)

New info on how to fix the rear window defroster. Mine had stop working as well. I checked all the wires and such all good. I went and took a look at the back window and there are 2 spots that connect to the defroster part. One on the right and one on the left. If you take a close look you can see if it has become all gunked up with corrosion. I cleaned that stuff off and it started to work again but only the top half. I took a closer look at the little lines that run through the window. Part of it had been scratched or dug off. Making the circuit in complete. I went to the electronics store radio shack and bought this conductive silver glue type of stuff and filled in the part that had been scratched and wammo bammo all of the defroster works. Try that before you dress up and sing rocket man
