Default air inlet question

does the air inlet from Genuinesaab work on my 04 9-5 Arc? this one: http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/p...roducts_id=368
if not, is there another product that does the same thing?

Pretty sure that came standard equipment starting in '04, so you already have it. Someone please correct me if Im wrong.

ahh ok so its the same part, it just came with the car. should i put a new filter on it, or is the stock one good enough?

Stock paper filter flows plenty fine. When was the last time it was changed?

I would personally replace it then, but you can always have a look at it to see for sure. You can get the K&N filter from GS, but it wont get you better performance, just a reusable filter. Up to you...

Some peopel recommend against using reuasable "oiled" filters they can f up the AMM sensor and you will need ot clean or replace it.

It is. YOu may need to jack the car up on the right hand side and you just pop the bottom of the airbox off and in with the new filter. There are a few screws that hold the bottom lid on. THe airbox is located right in front of the wheel well.

That is up to you. The first one you posted will replace the airbox alltogether into an open air intake. It also gets rid of the need for the snorkle. The open air intake will give you that awesome spool up and blowoff sound from the turbo.

Will look like this....



The second one, the drop in, goes into the the original airbox and replaces the stock filter.

Neither one will give you any performance gains.

thanks a ton Mt.aero. i think im going to get the open air intake cuz i love the spool, bov sound.
