NO seriously, 15 months old and failing. WTF?
Just a rant...sorry. I had to buy a new one to pass emissions. This is the first Saabs I have ever owned that failed emissions. Bought a USED DIC in workign condition and passed. Car ran fine, but was throwing the ususal 2 codes for a DIC, the DIC was brand spanking new 15 months ago. WHat a crap system. I took it out, and it looked like it was still out of a box. I will keep it as a spare as it works fine aside from the odd misfire. in 19 years of use, Saab still can't get it right. I guess I can rely on this stupid thing to keep failing again and again....good thing I have spare Saabs that aren't DIC cars. rant....rant....rant

Feel your pain Bro.
What does the label on the new DIC says? The new ones should have the part number 55562588 with TK3.7 rev C. The four digit code if I am not mistaken indicated manufacturing date, i.e 0708 relates to week 7 fiscal 2008. |

Agreed. They are no longer on back order but "limited quanity" I overnighted it, paid extra 40 bucks.. It's been a week and then they tell me they had it in stock the whole time. Sweet huh

That sucks bro but I have to say that all 3 of my SAABs have been DIC (2 red and 1 black) and I've yet the have one go.

The DI is great when it's working right, but 15 months for it to start throwing misfire codes is odd. I'd put new spark plugs in it and see if the misfire goes away.

I put 155,000 kms on my NG900, over 100,000 kms on my 1999 9-5, and not many on my 2005 9-5.
So far I have had only one failure on the 900 and had to swap to my backup on the 1999 as the 2000 upgraded ECU didn't like the original. Other than that, they have been fine. |

I spoke with my mechanic, I'm going to try to warranty. He said that 15 months of life sucks but he sees them worse than that on a fairly regular basis. At least the old one still works, spare is essential for reliability.

The car has been good to me, so really I'm not very upset, what I am upset about is a 15month old DIC failing. THen I hear this not to be a rare or freak occurance.
