Default 9-5 Aero 2002 Engine Mounts

Can somebody give me a comprehensive guide to how many engine mounts there are on my car, also where they are positioned. I think they need replacing as I'm getting vibration through the cabin, but not sure which one or more will need to be renewed.
Thanks in advance.

You have two hydro mounts (one near the serp belt and one near your shift linkage behind your engine). You also have a solid rubber mount under your battery for the gearbox. Lastly you should have a torque arm in the front of your engine which is connected to the same bracket as your solid rubber gearbox mount.

See here for a pic

How many miles on your car? I replaced all but the rear and at 134K they were pretty shot.

Here they are. Plus there's the torque rod mount at the front of the transmission. That makes a pretty nice improvement also.

I've got 200k on my Aero but new engine fitted at 143k, so I guess it's time for a change of mounts to make it smoother. By the way I've aldready put a new torque arm on it.

Not sure but I would guess that mounts should live longer than 57K. Were they not changed when the new engine was fitted?

No they were not replaced when the engine was changed, so I guess they are originals.

If they are the originals then I would certainly replace at least the right and left mounts. This is a fairly easy DIY job that took me about 40 minutes to sort out.

You had to Prop the engine right? I am guessing that the mount under the batter is the Transmission Mount?

Yes,

Not only that but you may need to lift the engine a bit higher to compensate for the new mounts not being squished. A hydro floor jack will do this very well.

My engine sits 1/2 inch higher on the right side now

What I find really weird about this (WIS) is that the solid mount (left) actually looks nothing at all like the one in the pic above.

Look at post number 2 and click the link. Enter your car year, etc and then select 'Engine Mounts' in the pull down. Assuming the same as mine, the picture shows where the engine mounts are and for a 2004, the relevant numbers in the figure are 1, 7, 10 and 16.

I haven't changed these, but in general you have to get weight off of them as described above, and then replace the part. Remeber that right is passenger side for the US

I have changed mounts on a dodge before, but this is a different beast. the one under the battery seem simple, but the others I need to look at carefully. im told that the two under the car really dont wear as much. i just ordered the top two. hope they are all needed at the this time.

I think I'm getting that same Vibration in the front. 2.3 Aero w/125k miles. Anyone have an idea on parts / labor as to cost?

New mounts is worth every penny as it gives a "smoother" ride. I did all 4 some time back and will say that the left, right and front was very easy. Do a search, you will find good info on the site.

The rear on the V6 cannot be done without dropping some parts down there as you cannot get the mount out once the bolts are loosened. I believe the 4 cyl has more room around there.
