Exclamation Tuned 9000 Database

While constructing the shopping list for the big turbo, I came to realization that it would be great to have a database of sorts where people with the tunes 9000s would basically fill out the info on what exactly they did, what they are happy with and what they are not. First I think this would be great for people who just got a 9000 and want to tune it. Second it is great for all other tuners because this way you actually know WHAT works. And I think this can be better the sites like CarDomain because we can make it very specific. So, Ill make a form and fill it out, and anyone who thinks this is a good idea can just copy it and fill it out themselves. Feel free to add anything.

Have updated mine with fuel pump and injectors.

Suggest that future plans are banned as anyone can make a list of goodies they want. Actually making, buying, fitting is another matter. In fact - I don't have my cams yet so they should be removed!

I completely agree with you. The thing is that if you look at the post in the performance section there are A LOT of posts about how can one attain a particular power lever, what turbo is good for a power level, what suspension mods are good, etc. If we have this sort of database and make it a sticky, over time these questions will be mute, because one can go and see what actually works on people's cars, not what might or should work.

Head Gasket: Stock
Head Valves: Stock
Head work: Stock
Valve Springs: Stock

Exhaust Manifold: old 9000 T3 style with 1" spacer between discharge and the turbo (otherwise the compressor hits the manifold )

Intake: 2.75" Aluminum tubing from IC to TB, Silicone couplers and T-bolt clamps as well
Downpipe: 3" made by me
Exhaust: 3" made by me - one stainless muffler in the rear
Intake: K&N drop in w/ holes in the airbox
Blow off Valve: Forge 001
Wategate/WG actuator: Internally gated turbo, Holset 19psi actuator
Intercooler: CX Racing (china made), big bar and plate core, 3" deep, other dimensions about the same as stock.
ECU tune: Custom mapped with T5 Suite
MAP sensor: Stock
Boost Control: Currently running base boost, but I'm wired up for T7 BPC valve
Turbo Pressure: 19psi (1.3 bar) at the moment (base boost)
Torque mount bushings: Poly
Bottom mounts: Stock - probably failed
Oil: Shell Rotella T 15w-40, changed often!

Fuel Pump: Walbro 255, type 341
Fuel injectors: 630cc Siemens Dekka
Fuel Rail and Lines: Stock

Flywheel: std
Clutch: spec stage 2
Transmission Gearset: Not currently broken...and stock

Suspension Shocks: Bilstein HD

Strut Brace Front: none
Strut Brace Rear: none
Sway bar front: Ssssssssssssstock
Sway bar rear: Stock
Bushings: Poly

Wheels Brand: Stock SuperAero or Ronal ???s
Wheels Offset: Hmmm, have to check!
Bolt pattern: 4x108
Hubcentric adapters?: Hubcentric spacers needed for the ronals
Wheel Size: 16
Tires Brand: Dunlop Dizezza Dz101 and Falken Azenis 615
Tires Size:225/50 16 and 215/45 16 respectively

Other custom mods: Not a whole lot. Schroth 4pt harness, a bunch of DOM steel tubing for a nicer harness bar and rear chassis bracing. Removed all AC components, removed all sound deadening + rear seat. Also an Innovate wideband to be sure I'm not leaning things out too much!

Horsepower range: was 270whp and 320lb.ft (at the wheels) before the big turbo and injectors were installed. I'd assume it's well over 300whp now. Very fast up top, not as fast down low.

Best mod: (Also the worst) is the big turbo. Its really fun, and out of hand, but at the circuit track I don't think its as usable as the smaller TD04 I had before.

next mod: More tuning, getting the T7 boost control valve 100% functional and adding more boost to the equasion! After that, I'll need to think outside the box better brake and suspension solutions. Also, after having driven a very lightweight 9000 I think I'll scrap a bit more of the interior and lighten things up about as much as possible.

Hubcentric adapters?: None
Wheel Size: 16" /17"
Tires Brand: Michelin pilot sport and Dunlop sp9000
Tires Size:205 55 16 215 50 17
Other custom mods: Subtle smoke on all lamps, tinted windows all round, copying Normans's moving of air temp sensor into intake, intake and DI painted in matt hi temp red paint, after market 2 bar boost gauge, saggy sunroof liner,...
Horsepower range: Dyno power run (in May) at 254bhp
Best mod: Second hand suspension package. Its low, mean and handles well! Worst mod: Anything I break when trying, what I foolishly think will be, " a good idea" ... Oh, and the 6" flexible ducting for the filter. A bargain from BnQ. Crushed it every time I parked nose into a kerb!
The future - play around with intercooler, 3" downpipe under construction, chase 300bhp!! May look longer term into non-turbo gearbox for closer ratios... Til then - Just keep enjoying thw Saab

I can't edit, so I'll just update with this post.

I got 426hp and 429lb.ft at the dyno on 11/1/08. Quite a bit more than I had expected!

Where can I get the following:

Shocks: Koni Adjustables.
Springs: B&G Lowered springs

And how does your drilled airbox with K&N work for you?
From what I heard, open filter is better... What do you think?
