Look in my signature, the link with monchar.com inside.
You can see my custom made air intake. I dont have BOV, you can't on this car but I heard my OEM BOV very loud with my new intake.

Look for my pics. Total of around $60 I think from Autozone. Just make sure to cut about 1 to 2 inches before the maf sensor to save you from cels and limp time

If money is not a problem, order the Simota Aero Form II or BSR intake. They look really nice if you plan on showing your car. For just a sound increase and to save LOTS of money you can go build your own at any parts store.

I didn't have problem with that
I have a AEM dryflow air filter with aluminium pipe. I cut my OEM airbox to take the MAS and I never had problem with that: -Increase turbo sound -Increase BOV sound I wrap it because aluminium have very high heat exchange (not sure about my traduction..) and the engine heat was to important. With the asbestos wrapping my air intake stay more cold. ![]()

A reason why a think some air intake give a CEL is that they dont respect the OEM geometrie of the MAS.
Better flow is not a reason, I boost 19 psi, the flow is very high VS stock boost and K/N air intake. SO the reason why I made a custom air intake it was because I wanted to keep the original size and form of the MAS. If you look at my picture, I cut the MAS from the airbox.

Aeroform II and BSR optiflow are about the only proven ones on the market that will work and have been tested from Saabers on here. You can custom make one for the sound, because that is what they are only good for. Save butt loads doing it this way. |

I just put a k&n into my box. Turbos just heat the air up anyways. CAI are best for naturally aspirated autos.

did you notice a substantial increase in turbo noise? would it be louder with a homemade one with cone filter? |

The sound is a little more pronounced but i usually have music going so I barely notice. Any open air is going to be 10x louder since the sound doesn't have to go through a box first to get to you. Only time I really hear anything is when I turn off the car and it sounds like the car is sighing.

With your DIY intakes and no heat shields...do you notice any heat soak? I've jsut got back from driving 50 some miles on teh expressway and the thing is still cool to the touch. Maybe b/c its only low 50 degree day but haven't notcied any unwanted heating. Im sure summer will be worse
