Figured that the transmission going into limp mode is caused when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Ususally a harder shift, and then the limp condition happens, P0730, Incorrect gear position. Another time it seems to happen in out on the freeway and accellerating up a hill or to pass at higher speeds, the transmission shifts out of 4th, down into 3rd, but never really engages the gear. Feels like slipage between gears. If I reset the code via OBD2 and simply turn the car off and back on, all is well until the next time it happens. Is there a sensor on or in the tranny that could be causing this? BTW, once the limp condition engages, I can hear an infrequent "click" from the transmission. This sound does not happen if the transmission is not in Limp mode.
The fluid has been 3 times flushed recently. Can a single gear go with these symtems, and if so, can that gear be fixed without replacing the whole tranny? Scott Last edited by Scott95; 28-08-08 at 08:42 PM. Reason: More info needed. |

Where is the selenoid located? Would you have an exploded view?

THey are in the trans you need to remove the pan. HEre is a pic one of the 9-3s I don't have access to Wis on this computer
http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/at...achmentid=9878 The Trans can be checked with TechII. On an OBD might not have Saab specific transmission codes. THere are several Solenoids and the tech II may tell you which one. I would not want you to pull it apart, and have to check each one unless you are pretty sure.... |

solenoids are pretty simple to test first you need to access them after youve got them in hand youll need a nine volt battery. solder a wire to the pos and neg of the battery you use these wires to activate the solenoid by just touching the solenoid terminals to the battery wires . you should hear a click but also if you blow in the front of the solenoid youll notice a change in flow it will allow flow or stop it. the switches that you cant test are the pressure switches. all that these solenoids do is allow the tranny fluid to flow through the valve body to compress the clutches. a bad pressure switch will allow the tranny to think it made the shift when in fact it didnt
