Default Start up - tap tap - aircon?

Wonder if the tapping I get on start up from absolutely cold could be coming from the A/C compressor? - have listened while engine is started with my ear as close as I dare to the left side of the engine & near drive belt - it doesn`t sound like a a tappet to me - any experience welcome! Increasing the revs causes the noise to go.
Many thanks, Julian

It's not likely, but you could remove the belt before you start the car; that should give you your answer.
