Question Broken and stuck driver seat adjuster cable

The seat position cable under my driver's seat broke right at the end that rotates the rail release bar. What is the trick to getting the little black plastic cable housing ferules out of the ferule holder plates? I can twist the ferules in the holes, but they don't seem to want to come out of the housing holder plates at each end of the housing. I want to repair/replace the cable, but need help in removing it.

It might help if I were to remove the seat, but once I remove the rear Torx bolts that hold the seat rail to the chassis, I can't figure out how to remove the front fastening point of the rails. It almost looks like the front is held down with rivets. What is the trick? Thanks.
