The transmission in my '99 9-3 is singing it's swan song. It's been going downhill for a while and now it's ready to be replaced. From what I can tell I absolutely must get a transmission from a '99. What about the 2000 model year is different that prevents me from using a tranny from one?

Interested to see what the final straw was that convinced you to replace. Good luck on your installation. Will you be doing this work yourself? |

Well. The diff. bushing is shot, so it leaks oil. It whines, grinds going into 3rd gear, and the most recent development. Popping out of 3rd gear when hitting bumps. The car's got over 200k on it so it's time to go.

I put an 02 9-3 trans in my 95 900, whats not to work about any transmission from 94-03? The easiest thing would be any 98-03 transmission.

The differences would be minor upgrades, slight gear ratio changes, and the hydraulic clutch...
The manufacturers are forever making changes - sometimes these are improvements...
