Default MB Acoustics speakers

Has anyone heard of, or have opinions about MB Acoustics speakers ? i.e. the 6 X 9's have a 97db/W/M sensitivity that seems too good to be true and at an attractive price.

Never heard of it. Sounds like one of those brands sold from the back of a van - with a name similar to a popular brand.

I note that JC Whitney sells them - my guess is that the specs are rather overstated. I wouldn't use these in my car.

The high sensitivity looks suspicious - usually the only speaker units that can deliver mid-to-high 90 dB numbers are those with horn tweeters.

Also, there's no pictures on that web site - based on the worded description, I would think they'd want to show off how it looks ...

I saw the JC Whitney listing too. I'm with sbl - stay away.

I'd stick with the name brands - Infinity, Polk, Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, etc. - most of which have reasonably priced 6x9s.
