Hi, I've just joined the forum I live in the Dordogne region of France and have recently purchased a 9000 Griffin. The previous owner said it was used by Saab at the 1997 motor show to promote the car. Don't know if that is true or just a sales pitch. we are very happy with the performance we drove 600 miles straight away to bring it home and it did not miss a beat. There are a few problems with it ,the main one being an oil leak somewere at the bottom of the engine on the left hand side. after a run I can smell hot oil which I assume is from the exhaust. Does anyone have an idea as to what this may be thanks for any suggestions

Left hand side meaning what?
These engines are notorious for various harmless oil leaks, the most common being at the clutch end of the head where the gaskets are a bit unusual. At the "left" end looking into the engine compartment the most common would be the tining cover seal but that would not leak onto the exhaust. My guess is you have the common head gasket leak at the front corner by the bell housing. |
