Default Aftermarket HID problem Please help!

Hi everyone I just recently got my first saab, Its a 2004 9-3 Linear. It had stock halogens, and I wanted to upgrade to HID's. So I installed a aftermarket HID kit. (I have installed 3 kits in 3 different vehicles before this) My problem is the lights turn on just fine and run great, but every once in a while they just shut off and the low beam fail indicator comes on. The weird thing is all I have to do to get them going again is to unplug the light and plug them back in!

I would just like to know what I can do to stop them from just shutting off while I am driving. Someone told me it might have something to do with a resistor or something. I don't know but I someone could help that would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully its a simple fix!

Thanx alot

Before I fitted my aftermarket HID's, I asked on my local forum and got this answer:

"HID's can be retrofit and you can retain your level adjustment. What you need to do is add capacitors in parallel (2 x2200uf, 35Vdc on each side) to the input of the ballast and the dip light warning will not appear."

I followed the instructions. No problems at all.

Here's about 15 pages of reading that should answer all your questions:

the simplest fix.

go to the dealer and ask him to enable the xenon option via the TechII.

no alerts or strobing after that.
