A member called Tiger over at GMI said I should post this here.....
--------------------------------------------------------------- I'd like to see SAAB get back to basics and start again with a 900 Turbo hatch from which a 5 door Combi and Convertible can be spun off. Built on the new EPII Opel platform it should have the roomy cabin that only comes from more upright A pillars and a curved in plan view front windscreen, like no other vehicles have. It should be a simple clean body design but the details should seem over engineered with high tech LED in the lights etc. The luxury interior should have HUD and a jet fighter style glass ****pit where there are no dials, gauges and buttons but just flat touch screens which the driver can select several display layouts and styles from. The engine should be transverse FWD with an enclosed auto-lubed chain drive to the rear diff sprocket (more efficient than a drive shaft and two 90degree bevel gear drives). It should use SAAB's variable compression engine and E85 so that when on E85 it runs much higher comp than when on gasoline. It should have an electric shift manual gearbox with an 'automatic' function but instead of manual shifts via paddles it should have a clutch and trad manual shifter then you can watch it move from gate to gate on it's own when in 'automatic' and then you can take over manual shift whenever you feel like it. ![]() |

the photoshop looks like the ******* offspring of a c900 and a pre-facelift bangle-butt 7-series.
In other words, it's right on the mark Though there IS a kernel of common sense to this, the c900 is about as iconic as it gets for Saab, and given the fond memories that people had of the cars it would be nice to see them try and build a car that plays up the strengths of the old cars. Kinda like what BMW is doing with the 1-series, and so far I've been seeing tons of those on the road around here. People often wax nostalgic about the kinds of cars that the european sports brands used to make and I think a "retro in spirit" car would do really well for Saab. |

if only gm would do that. it'd be nice if design requirements for their new cars were the same for the ng900: bears an obvious resemblance to the 900.

I think put a hatch on a 3door 9-3 SS and we'd have what we always wanted.

Sorry I should have explained. The sedan is the original pic I chopped the hatch pic from. It's the new Opel Insignia which is due for release soon in Europe and then as a Saturn in the US and it's on the new GM Epsilon II platform that the new 2010 Saab 9-5 will be built on. |

Seriously though.... I think that a lot of big car companies develop the British Leyland syndrome when they try to have too many brands under their umbrella.

like 900t said, the 9-5 carried some nice c900 traits the 9000 didn't have, like the clamshell bonnet and door designs.
A 900 turbo concept would be fantastic, all this 9-3SS stuff looks awesome but I love the concept of the 3-door hatch the most.

Saab needs to come back with the hatchback. I dont care if they make anything else. All in all nice job, the front looks a little odd to me.
