you can not reset it until it gets to <10% . Then it will bring up an option for you to reset it. I truly hope your not going by that schedule for changing your oil.
Also FYI hit search. I found many threads on this same topic.

You can reset your Oil Life. Just change the date on the SID 1 or 2 years ahead. This will allow you to reset the service indicator.

I reset mine just yesterday by using this method. I changed the spark plugs yesterday and also decided since I was at 25% oil life to change that as well. I changed the year to 2010, checked service data and was able to reset it. It is now showing 99% life.

So if I'm reading this right, if I decide to change my own oil (or more likely take it to local garage/Kwik Fit/etc) then I can't reset the oil life indicator until it says 10% or less? How do SAAB techs do it then? And if I change it, have to wait until it says 10% or less, then am I left with it not reading right for the next batch of oil (i.e. it resets to 100% when actual life is say 90%)?

Saab does it using Tech2.

You can do it like this:

Obviously your not reading it right.....you can set it two ways, after it reaches 10% it will ask you, or you can advance the date.

How do saab techs do it, well if it's under 10% they just push reset when asked, or Plug in a Tech II Programmer.

What does any of that have to do with resetting the Oil life Monitor?

Start by reading this thread......it's explained a few times.
But again, here is the Short Version, Go into the SID Programming, advance the date a year, exit, go back into Service settings it will ask you if you want to reset, say yes. Exit, go back in and restore the date.

the only problem I have with advancing the date is the SID counts from the day you reset it at. currently, mine says 365 days, 35% oil life left

Using the Oil Life meter is not a necessity.... just use common sense and change your Oil on a regular basis. I have not referred to my OLM for years, I just change Oil every 7.5K. The main Services are mileage based anyway.

When I do reset it just to clear the notice, the % re-sets and counts down but days till service is always 725, never changes.... (03's through 5's are calibrated to two years)

Default Reset oil change - Redux

Here's a twist to the thread. The 2008 9^3 Aero SportCombi with navigation allows you to adjust the time but not the day or date so the "set the SID ahead" ploy doesn't work. And the reset button works only when the service needed warning comes on the SID.

I had the oil changed at Falcone Saab yesterday, and when I checked the oil stays today it was at 63%. Somehow I doubt that oil algorithm comes out that the oil shows a 37% degradation in 25 or so miles.

Anyone have any ideas or do I have to take the car back to Falcone?
