So I'm looking to install a dark burl style dash kit similar to what Saab Usa offered in the early 90's (wood dash inlay part# 0245563).
After a few searches I've discovered there are seemings endless companys claiming to be able to supply high quality kits with in 5 days usually. Prices range from $100-350. There is no way to tell on the Internet what the material really looks like, if it will fit properly. A few manufactures I've come up with are MIMO brand, Benevento brand, and a few other sites I can't find out who makes the kits. For example exoticwoodtrim.com claims to have a 28 piece kit set up for $136? Most are 3-6 main pieces. So does anyone have any experience with a good dash kit or who made the OEM kits. Thanks for your input any will help. michael dean |

A lot of these kits look fake so be very careful. There is certainly one kit out there that comes in two pieces for the dash and should be avoided. The 28 piece kit is a bit of a worry! - pieces is the max as far as I can make out and that would include two pieces for the door.
The best advice I could give is to hold out for an original, look on flea bay, they come up every now and again. You could always make your own. I used MDF as a backing and proper walnut veneer for mine. It took a while and quite a bit of patience but it was worth it. ![]()

Sorry to bring up a dead thread buuut, I have done my door panels, glove box, ashtray, and rear deck like this on my own already and am now ready to do the dash trim, but how do i take off the old trim with out breaking anything? Do I just pull and slide it out? Will all the knobs and buttons come out with it etc etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Nate |

I think you will find the "trim" will peel off the front without removing all the switches etc, as it's stuck on to the main dash, just like the wood is
