Default Color of steering wheel

I was thinking about this while at our auto show a few weeks back, when I tried to sit in every single vehicle on display that was open to the public.

The interiors that have black steering wheels I instantly have more preference for:

Wood accented wheels don't do much for me, I feel like I ought to be 70 yrs-old with my pants up to my armpits:

Dual-tone or chrome accents are meh (except 9-3/9-5 Aeros which at least look like aircraft yokes):

But what I ABSOLUTELY hate are non-black steering wheels that are of the same color as the rest of the interior trim, gives me total heebeejeebees !

I never really noticed it before but I'm with you on the "color matched to the interior" steering wheel....boring!!!

I had a Taurus with a real wood wheel...yes, I said Ford Taurus...and I actually kind of like it. It was special.

I thought my old 9-5 was pretty classy and looked very nice.

It IS classy and nice

Personally woodie steering wheels aren't for me (nor door handle/trim) and debatable on the gear shifter.

However I AM okay with wood fascia on the dash. But that's only because I'm a living contradiction

I can never make up my mind if I like touching a woodie.

I like the feeling of skin on skin throughout. A nice soft leathery steering wheel...mmmmmm. I like leather gear**** knobd for thier feel, but woodies look nice.

Some days I love the wood dash, and other days I think the car looks dated.

It depends entirely on how well it fits the car. I can't imagine something like a Jag XK (a proper one, not one of the modern bloaties) without a proper wood-rim wheel. Equally, any luxobarge worth it's salt HAS to have deadcow.

But there's nothing worse than really naff fake plastiplank, especially when it just doesn't fit the surroundings.

I'm undecided on if I want a deadcow wheel in the c900 - it'd have to be the "proper" three-spoke c900 wheel with a leather rim. Anything else'd be somehow... wrong...

I've always wondered how the 9-5 interior would look if the grey plastic was painted a darker black.

WHY CANT THEY SELL THIS???

i can't help but see all the cheap plastic bits when looking at those cars, inside or out. i vote fiberglass and leather over plastic and vinyl.
