Default clutch problem

So today after driving for about 45 min in my 2000 9-3, my clutch decided to be an ***. In short, the clutch (pedal) no longer returns to its highest point. It is limp until fairly close to the floor. I can pull the pedal back up to its original position, but it will either fall back down to close to the floor, or when i push it in, it just wont return that high again. (it no longer springs back, it hovers close above the floor) The car will still drive fine, but theres something clearly off. My fluid is full. The problem first arrose after I filled up with gas, so I wasnt driving it hard at all when the problem directly happened. Any ideas on what the heck happened?

well somehow today after pressing the clutch in and out it decided to go back to normal. I'm gonna have it looked at this week, but what could it be if
the thing doesn't stay depressed and goes back to working normally?

The spring slipped back into place ????

NO, that is silly...

The pedal is binding on an old rusty out of round shaft ???

NO, at least not on the older Saabs...unless we retrogress to '64 and dip into the world of rust..

The manufacturers are makings vehicles with ever tightening tolerances in the name of quality....this may be a big mistake.

Sounds like the way the clutch pedal worked on my Audi 5000 when the clutch master cylinder went out.
