Getting ready for a big trip tommorrow and I was cleaning up the wiring from my boost gauge... Sparks Fly...
Later....
I go to pick up my daughter - bad news - None of these things work:
Windows
Mirrors
Blinkers (emerg flashers work though)
Wipers (front and back)
All Relays and Fuses look good. Tested relays by swapping. Pulled ALL Fuses. I'm thinking I fried the DICE...But, I run a jumper from the TWICE/DICE fuse to the DICE/elecric mirrors fuse. BINGO! everything works...
So what the H3LL is going on here? Seems like DICE isn't recieving voltage or lost its ground. I'll post up the wiring diagram if anyone knows how to read it....
That's what you get when you don't know what you're doing...
;oops:
I called two dealers because it was raining and I really shouldn't have been driving. One said "Try swapping the relays," the other said "well I'll have to get in there with a cirsuit tester." My Mechanic buddy across the street knew that it must be a fuse - but didn't know about the maxi fuses.
That makes me feel goos that I figured it out myself... And my wallet breathed a sigh of relief... .
Fuse Box, and the ground behind the fuse box - specifically here:
Four wires from the boost gauge - Ground, Red (power, and red lights), Green (for green lights), White (White lights).
I was trying to wire a switch in Three position (On-Off - On). There was no wiring diagram provided with the switch. When trying several solutions the switch began to smoke. I think that's when it happened....There several other times that I had wires touch when I shouldn't have and I got sparks.
The problem is that the Green configuration I had wired reflected onto the window at night. My wife requested a way to turn it off at night - so as not to tire the eyes or distract.
Problem solved with two switches - One for power and red color, and a second that will turn on the green color. I could add a third switch for the white color (or change the green to white) if I wanted - but I dont!
