hey all just a quick question and sum sugesstions would be realy helpfull
i have a 9-3 with over 300bhp and my inner drive shaft boot ( the side with the cup not the small side the long part) keeps splitting open.this is the second time this has happened with-in 2 months.the first time i had to replace the drive shaft becuse water had got in and wrecked the cup and parts inside.was checking over the other week and noticed that the boot had split again and the grease was everwhere again.any ideas on how i can get this to stop.i am putting on a spare driveshaft at the moment as i cant get hold of a inner boot but i dont want to be doing this every 2 months... ta dan Last edited by TheGodSon93; 18-03-08 at 05:09 PM. |

A few ideas, in no particular order:
- the boots may have been installed too stretched out or bunched together, so that when the driveshaft moves about with suspension movement it was stressing them causing a rip. - any dangling items near them or road debris could have compromised them - as you are making a lot of power, do you have a handle on your EGT's? If your exhaust is getting extremely hot, the heat cycling could be prematurely fatiguing the boots. If your EGT is getting that high, your tune and exhaust restriction is the next concern. |
