I found this relatively close to home. I sold my other two 900s and need a 3door hatch so I don't have to drive the Viggen as much.
It has the whale tale and the carlson? kit it looks like from the photos. It has 151,000 and is a 5speed nonturbo. I'm thinking I may sell the ground effects kit and the whale tale. Owner is asking $1400. What do you all think? It's between this and an 88 900t with 163,000 and a rebuilt motor/trans for $1850. Thanks Rogo ![]()

Is that an Airflow body kit? They were supposedly fitted to many non-turbo cars by dealers to get them off the lots.

Agreed. Buy it, then sell the Airflow kit for $1500. Free car!
If you only have room for one, I'd buy the turbo, as no matter how pretty of a car you have, you'll always be pining for that boost. Or, buy both, sell goodies off the Airflow and strip for spare parts. (free spare parts!) |

Do NOT do this. I viewed this car two weeks ago. it definitely DOES NOT deserve to get parted out. Yes it's a nonturbo but it's a fantastic car. The gentlemen who owns it purchased it BRAND NEW in 1989 and has taken meticulous care of the car. It has PERFECT grey cloth interior, a very strong running NA motor, great ride (no signs of suspension work needed), transmission was smooth and not notchy, etc. The trunk area looks brand new and never used. Do not buy this car and part it out. If you do I will find you and hunt you down. The only reason I didn't buy it is because I already have two c900's and a VW. I was ready to buy, but I didn't have the room. Now, it needs some paintwork on the airflow arches and whaletail (which is evident in many factory-added kits, they were painted separate from the car). It also is loosing some clearcoat on the roof. The headliner is perfect except for two minor spots where it's beginning to hang. It also needs a drivers side headlight and the front bumper needs to be "tightened up"... you'll see what I mean if you view the car. These are all little things. This car has an airflow kit, whaletail, PERFECT uncracked rear decor panel, and is very handsome. Garaged for most of its life and NO RUST. Do not strip this car, do not strip this car, do not strip this car. If I find out you intend to strip the car, I'll call the owner back and buy it out from under you.

It was very close... The day I was supposed to go back and pick it up I decided I should use the $$$ to finish up the convertible.

Aww, come on Joe, the vert will wait, you don't want to finish it out, its no fun once everything is finished, besides, that just means something will break, you don't want something to break now do you?
You live in the country now don't you? You can add another one to your collection, nobody will complain, I should know. Besides, eventually you're going to marry and your wife will need something to drive, if you trust her, this would be perfect for her. You know you need it, you don't find them like this everyday.... ^^I've used that rational before.. Really though that's a sharp looking car, pity it isn't closer. I never have any neat ones around here. Actually there is one locally, a 900S with all the goodies, airflow, whaletail, arches, at the rate they are smashing it up there won't be anything left of it though, besides, there is someone else watching for it, they want to strip it and sell the parts, bugger.

Oh keep the kit on the car, nice 900s are hard to find.
Someone keep her going. (starts to ponder about a 4th Saab)

"Rogo, what color is your viggen?"
MC Yellow, why? We're moving into some very rough times and I decided to get the door fixed and the bumper repainted, rather than spending the money on a Saab that needs to be babied. My father owns a dodge ram that I can use to 'plant' on the property. I hope a saabophile buys this one-Tony was really nice. Rogo |
