i went to check my oil and when i pulled out the dipstick it was covered in this thick yellowish crap.......the dude i bought the car from says its from excess moisture in the oil that hasnt burn off because i dont drive my car long distances (therefore raising the engine temp toburn off the moisture). he says its not a big problem and i havent noticed any difference in the performance of the car but that cant be a good sign........and i dont know whether to leave it or to bring it to someone to have it checked out cuz i dont have an extensive amount of money to spend on it.

Uh....change your oil, then go for a nice long drive, say 1-2 hours.
That gooey stuff is water and waxy residue, so it's possible that the previous owner isn't yanking your chain. If it happens again, then you probably have a leaking head gasket that's allowing coolant into the oil. You can retorque the head bolts to see if that fixes it (cheap and potentially effective) but if it doesn't, you may be needing a head gasket soon.... |
