Default Notchy 1st and 2nd

My 9-3ss aero with 100k on the clock is experiancing notchyness when shifting into 1st and 2nd and to a lesser extent 3rd. This is much more noticeable when cold and improves quite a bit when the car is warmed up. Could this be a trans fluid issue or am I faceing needing new syncros?

If im facing a rebuild how hard are saab trannys to rebuild? do they need many special tools?

Thanks Steve

It's normal for a transmission to be harder to shift when it's cold outside. Manual transmission fluid usually doesn't need to be changed for the life of the car. They don't heat up the way automatic trannies do.
