Hi all,
ok, taking my 1996 GM900 Manual non turbo... 2 litre for an MOT I noticed the clutch travel was totally different to my c900. Probably mostly down to being cable. My question is however, what should my clutch travel be? Right now it feels like an inch of travel before the cluth disengages. (is that how you spell it?) Feels very quick, though I was stalling it in reverse! The bit is quick and you dont need a lot of pedal travel to engage and disengage! Is this good, or bad, meaning, is this a newish clutch or on its way out? |

The free play, as measured or felt at the pedal is 19 mm, then the clutch disengagement begins. It should be complete before the pedal is one inch or two inches from the floor...
I do not think that a 1/4" extra should matter... Few have any kind words for the cable system which was finally replaced in '98 with hydraulics...I'd guess the cable is OK , if treated in a gentle manner and replaced every few years..
