Cam cover? Valve cover?

What do you call it?


I was going to post a poll, but I guess you cannot do that.

I usually call it a valve cover, but if someone wants to call it a cam cover thats cool.....as long as we all know what piece he is talking about!

I call it a Camshaft cover (cam cover for short ) if when I remove it all I can see is Camshafts and Followers (is Followers the right word, or is it Tappets?? or Lifters??). To put your mind at ease, I generally know what is going to be revealed beforehand , been there done that.

I call it a Valve cover when removal reveales loads of Valvetrain components, sometimes there is a camshaft but not always. Like my other car, Mazda 323F, it is a SOHC 16v engine, loads and loads of 'Valvetrain' componenets. I believe 'Valvetrain' is the origin of Valve Cover (short for Valvetrain cover perhaps??).

I call it a Valve cover.

And they are Lifters that you are seeing Hydraulic lifters
