Default I could be tempted........

Its not a Saab, its not even a petrol car........

Quote:
It will hit 62mph in 5.9sec, after all. Significantly, that’s a better time than the 3.2 petrol V6 quattro, which needs 6.1sec

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...sse-super.html

Base price: $32,100
0-to-60-mph time: 5.7 sec
Quarter-mile time: 14.2 @ 101 mph

It’s been 20 years since the words “Buick” and “sport” have inhabited the same sentence and not referred to Tiger Woods. Buick performance purists, all 17 Members Only–jacketed habitués, whose passion was birthed of turbocharged fury, might pooh-pooh the LaCrosse Super. It’s no GNX, and 20 years later, it is almost a second slower to 60 mph. It is, however, unexpectedly competent and quite reasonably priced. Our Jared Gall called it “easily the best-driving Buick in recent history” and said if not for the omnipresent torque steer, it might drive better than many Lexuses, a claim he made while scanning the heavens for swine on the wing.

The LaCrosse Super wasn’t designed to be a sports sedan, with all the comparisons that invites, and is instead billed as a “luxury touring sedan.” It does, after all, share its chassis and engine with Chevrolet’s Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS, as well as the Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, and front-wheel drive does none of these cars any favors. It is interesting to note that the Buick stops in less distance, holds onto the skidpad longer, and is quicker and faster than any of its platform-mates, with shocking high-speed stability, especially considering its roots and the badge on its nose.

The four-holer Super is stuffed with the 5.3-liter LS4 V-8 mated to a could-have-another-cog-or-three four-speed automatic transmission. The 300 horsepower and the 323 pound-feet of torque will whisk upsold octogenarians to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, if the torque steer at launch doesn’t snap their calcium-depleted wrists. The quickest Buick in years is also the fastest Buick in history, promising prompt tee-time arrival with a 156-mph top speed.

//// To be honest I'm only intrigued because of the wonder of being able to drive 156 mi/h past any cop on the continent without any of them noticing

I love diesel. I'm going to sell my MB 300SD and it's killing me. I love my Saab but there's something to be said for driving down the road and knowing you can take anyone who gets in front of you! That car is a beast.

Disappointing!

To get to 60 in 5.9 I think it must have been this 300 hp version, with all the respect due to our 15k Chris...

No I dont believe it posted incorrect information but "incomplete". It did not mention that it was a special MTM tuned A5 TDi..

"Once MTM has its way with it, Audi’s A5 V6 TDi is an example of what a high-performance diesel motor can do: 300hp, 550Nm (405lb-ft) of torque, 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in just 5.9s and a lap of Hockenheim a second quicker than Audi’s own S5. Serious statistics for an oil-burning six-cylinder. The MTM gets 60hp over the stock A5, and tops out at 265km/h (165mph), 15km/h (9mph) faster."

No kidding, BRING THOSE TO THE USA PLEASE! I want them to depriciate enough so i will be able to afford one when my 9000 dies!

Deisel is the new pink, and saab could be first on the bandwagon if they just start shipping these to america with some finagled bluetech system

How does that 0-60 time compare to the 9000 CSE 200hp?
Roughlt the same isnt it? If so i could definitely put up with that for that gas mileage

That is UK miles per gallon, a UK gallon is like 4,5 litre while a US is 3,78 gallon, so you won't get such numbers

After they put the US emissions controls and also run it on EPA's test (which is a lot "harder") the numbers would probably be in the 30's. Then you have to buy diesel, which is often costlier than premium gasoline.

Add that to the much higher cost of buying the diesel in comparison to the gas model of the same car - Mercedes is trying to keep a lid on the E class CDI Bluetec but it is pretty difficult - you are talking around $5 000.

Anyway don't worry as there will be lots of diesel in American showrooms in the next 5 years. Audi, BMW (a 304 hp six cyl diesel!!), Honda even will be bringing lots of diesel. And not to mention Volkswagen right now (2008), and Mercedes CDI's and Chrysler are also selling lots of diesel (eg Grand Cherokee CRD).

Holy **** 10 000 post!
