A random question - how hot do our exhaust headers get? I'm looking into wrapping the header, to better feed my OAI, and I'm not sure if 'standard' exhaust wrap will do or if I need a 'high temperature' or 'extreme' version.

Also, is there a good brand of wrap? The first google hit yields www.heatshieldproducts.com, $25 for 1"x50', seems like a good deal for more than enough wrap.

Check out the picture and the video and that should give you some idea. Saabs seem to run high egt's and I know tuned ones can run 1700F+ and I hear even stock they are in the high 1600+ range...

i'm going to have to say that the extreme version would be a prudent investment . can anyone speak for or against any particular brands of wrap?

thermo-tech's copper infused wrap is good up to 2000 deg. I have the manifold and downpipe both wrapped up.

Summit racing is the place to go to get it, their prices are consistently better for any and all heat management needs.
