I'm just in the process of opening up the box for my 99 and noticed it does not look too difficult to change some of the bearing while I'm in there. Does anyone know what new rebuild parts can be bought for reasonable money - might as well change some bits as I'm in there!

Agree you should change a few of the more vulnerable bearings while you're in there. Layshaft bearings and pinion bearings are a must. Ask Boxman for advice on others

You remember when you were in my garage the other day and we were talking about grooves in the layshaft... well.. took it out today and it's totally smooth, not the slightest notch in it!

This is not a part number: K20X26X20
It's a size...! K 20 x 26 x 20 You can get it from millions of bearings suppliers... but it's a slightly unusual size so always available next day delivery... noone keeps it on the shelf. |

A lot of bearings part numbers are their sizes
Just to (mildly, possibly) annoy you, I got the proper puller for the reverse and layshaft in the post today. Nice ebay bargain, didn't even notice it in the pic!

lady luck was on your side chap!
It's actually quite easy if you've done it once. I gave up before because it was late in the evening and I didn't fancy any more work and I'd run out of leaverage on my homemade-puller. When I open up the 5-speed in a couple of days time I reckon it's going to much easier...! |

Not identified it all yet, but:
A bearing installer/remover (basically a punch) for various gearbox bearings and steering knuckles A gearbox drain plug tool, not for the '75- 99. An alignment tool for rear caliper pistons. Some kind of bearing drift, not for '75- 99. A couple of possibly shaft pullers, not for '75- 99. A couple of workshop made bearing installers (water pump puter-inner as one is labelled Diff bearing ring puller, engine chain gear puller, front wheel hub bearing puller. Some kind of podger for a 99 gearbox. Doesn't appear to be an official tool. And a Churchill (as who made some of the other tools) thing. Doesn't appear to be an official tool, looks more like a centring bit for a lathe. And a few other random bits like a seal, some rollers from a needle bearing, and and engine lifting eye. An interesting "haul"
