Default Onstar remote car unlock TRUE/FALSE?

Like many, I have have the idea in my head from reading it somewhere (can't remember where) that Onstar should be able to remotely unlock your car if you lock yourself out. My dealer tells me that this has never been possible on any Saab. In various posts some say it's possible (see current post on locked out) and others say it's not.

1) Can anyone with confidence/experience confirm if Onstar can remotely unlock a 93SS '03?

2) Where did we read that Onstar is supposed to be able to remotely unlock our cars?

Thanx

I haven't tried it, but OnStar says it's available for this model.

When I was activating my onstar account I asked the onstar guy if they can unlock and do the horn/lights thing. he said that the new 9-3 is the only Saab with that capability. I keep meaning to try it but havnt yet.

My salesman didn't think you could do it either, but the Saab website says that you can - it's under their FAQ section. And I also verified this with someone at the Saab proving grounds. So it should work.

The 9-3SS is the only Saab this works on.
Not on the 9-3 SE, or 9-5.

Ladies & Gentlemen, I have answers:

1) Yes. I just tried it. I called 1-888-4-onstar (1-888-466-7827) and asked to unlock my vehicle. They asked for account # & PIN & they said "Wait 10 min & if it is unsucessful we'll call you back". Their first attempt was unsucessful, but their second attempt was! Yippie! (First time failed due to weak Onstar cellular signal). It unlocked all doors, BTW, not just Driver.

2: In the Infotainment Manual that came with your car, on page 92 under "Remote Services" you can "lock any door of the car or unlock the driver's door".

So now they think I'm a goober, needing to unlock my door while it's in my driveway ops: .
I'm glad it works. I had my doubts too. But not anymore. The guy @ Onstar even asked me if I got my keys before we hung up, just in case I opened the door, locked it, then closed it again without retreiving the keys.

I have a 2003 9-3 Arc.

I was going to try it like you did and thought about the 'goober' thing. Thanks for volunteering !

did you know...
you can request the time of unlocking (so you can get to the car)?
you can request the lights be flashed, so you can find the car?
you can request they hit the alarm horn?

kind of neat, really.

Well there you have it folks, real life evidence that the feature works. Now the key (pun intended) is to never have to use it.
