Anybody know what this is, why it leaks fuel when the motor is running, and where I can get a new one?
It is postioned on the drivers side just above the rear exhaust box. |

Accumulator i think- part of the k-jet injection system,
Could try comparing it with one from a mk1 golf gti or similar - or even a 8v turbo 900? Pete |

Holds fuel pressure when the motor is off. The accumulator has a diaphragm which has probably split..
Looks identical to the part on my 900i. |

Is it serviceable so that I can replace the diaphram or do I need a new accumulator. Any idea where I can get one online?

The bad news: I don't think they're servicable
They do two things: 1) Smooth out any fluctuations in fuel pressure whilst running, and 2) Maintain a pressure when not running so that when the engine is cranked starting is immediate (have you nocited poor starting?). A little bit about them: http://www.auto-solve.com/mech_inj.htm#MFI05 Not sure where you'd get a new/recon one. Best bet would be to contact your nearest Bosch distributor. |

Ok, this *might* be the Bosch part number: 0 438 170 010 It's for the US models. Taken from here: http://63.89.49.212/parts/wizard.jsp...utopartsgo.com
Well, there's somewhere that it's available online edit: looks like that number is the same as for a BMW 320i presumedly the old (E28?) shape. A trip to the breakers may find fruit. |

Yes I have noticed poor starting over the last 2 days
I'll have a look for some local scappys, I wouldn't mind getting a new one if they are not mega bucks. Thanks for the help. |

No probs. That 2nd link doesn't seem to be working (did a minute ago!). The price from them is $110.98. About £67. Figure UK price to be about £100.

Best bet is to probably cross-reference the part no. through Saab to see if its the same as a C900i - if it is then you should be able to get one through eurocarparts or similar.........

I don't want to sound thick but how would I do that. Is it as simple as phoning the local Saab dealer and asking.

"I asked my nearest bosch distributor, but all it did was rhythmically spin round and send electrical pulses down some wires..." I'm here all week... |

Thanks for all the imput guys, Simon put me on to a chap who sent me the right Bosch part number then it was as simple as going to the nearest Bosch dealer and ordering the Accumulator (less than a mile from work). Got it today only downside was the £74 price tag. Never mind if it last as long as the original I won't complain.
