Default Radio won't turn on

Hi,
I recently purchased a used 1996 Saab 900 SE convertible (if this is in the wrong section, please move it, as I couldn't seem to find a section for non-classic 900 models). Everything works great, except that the radio, and all its associated functions (tape, CD player etc) won't work. I have the radio code, the SID panel displays "CODE IN" when I turn on the car... but the radio itself makes no response when I press in "ON" button, and does nothing whatsoever when I enter the code.

The panel is backlit, but it's as if it's dead. What can I do to get the radio working? Thanks!

What you need is the Saab 9-3 & NG900 Workshop. Moving now...

The 'Code-In' means that you need to enter the anti-theft code into the radio before it will work. It will ask for this any time the battery has been disconnected for more than a few minutes. There is a card that should have came with the owners manual that has this code on it (4 digits).

If you dont have that, you can probably get the code from a dealer if you give them your vin #. You might also try a generic number such as 1111 or the like, but its unlikely that this will work.

I think the generic code is 1124 but it doesn't always work.

Try this

The search button can be much faster and more helpful sometimes

Pull the radio out of the dash and check the connections in the back. If you are getting the "code-in" and you enter the code, it may be that the connections are not hooked on correctly.
