intake manifold gasket

I recently tuned up my 1994 900 se and had to remove the intake manifold to get to the back 3 plugs. I noticed there was no gasket for the intake manifold and just put it back together without one. Now that I am thinking about it, shouldn't there be one to cut down on the amount of air sucked in between the two metal surfaces? Wouldn't this effect the idle if there is too much air being sucked into the block because there is no gasket? If there should be a gasket, would you use a permatex gasket adhesive to keep it in place?

I was going to say you should have installed the N.A. manifold, then I realized you have an SE V6.

I think a manifold paper gasket is used; if not, just use RTV silicone "liquid gasket" and make your own .

An O ring is used ! The search worked again, but some digging was necessary.

There should be a gasket in there, its part no. 45 03 512, its the green paper type, and doesn't need any adhesive just bolting down the manifold will hold it in place
Saab do say you should replace it every time you lift the intake manifold but you can get away with it if your careful.
They cost £4.39 over here in the U.K.

OK, so I saw the green gasket there but did not realize it was a gasket. I wiped it down and put the manifold back in place. I will replace it. Where does the intake manifold "O" ring go? Is there more than one?

Originally, Dtsirlis mentioned an O ring, maybe this is used with the thermostat.... Easy to find its groove and place..
