I'm new to owning a Saab and would welcome some advice.
1.The Service Record book for my Saab went missing between the previous seller (possibly an auction house)/dealer. The Dealer (non franchised) has assured me he is trying to get a replacement book but it is taking time. He says the first service was at 9652 miles by a Saab dealer (date unknown). The SID now states a service is due which seems to coincide with the cars 4th birthday. This tends to suggest the service intervals are every 2 years or ???? miles. My car has only done 18000 miles. Can anyone advise of the correct service intervals and what level of service would now be due? 2. Very occasionally I am unable to unlock my car using the remote. In order to get access I have to open the passenger door manually thereby settting off the alarm. I then put the electronic key into the slot, the alarm stops and when the remote locking/unlocking is activated again it works OK ... until the next time. Anyone have an idea as to what is happening and how to fix it? Many thanks for any help. |

Replace battery and clean the battery contacts in the key fob. The key is loosing the rolling code sync with the car - which usually happens when the power to the fob gets disconnected .

Hi, and welcome,
Service intervals are dictated by Oil quality - the oil quality is 'sensed' by the car - and when it reaches a prescribed level (measured as a percentage) - you will get the service reminder - there is no fixed service interval on these cars - it depends on how hard the car is driven and what that in turn does to the oil. I bought my car just over 2 years ago with 7000 miles on the clock - in the last month or so I've been driving up and down to the Heathrow area whilst on a course (from Northumberland) and have put on a few thousand miles - the service reminder has just come on for the second time since I have owned it - at 33,000 miles (ish) - the 1st was at around 18000 miles like you. I have a feeling the second interval has been lowered by my more 'spirited' driving, since applying a BSR Stage 1 upgrade (see the performance section!) If you scroll through the menus on the SID, you will find the oil quality, and the 'days left before service' items. ATB, Phil

30000km 1st (small) service
60000km 2nd (large) service i believe. will look it up. other than that, theres an oil-quality monitoring algorythm and a max time in days before oil-change. press the customize button for the sid, scroll down, settings, service data. there you get told about your oil... |
